It is worth knowing why an iPad screen repair costs more and takes longer than the phone repair it resembles. The glass on most iPads is bonded to the frame with adhesive around a large perimeter, and it has to be released with controlled heat and separated slowly. There is a battery and, on many models, ribbon cables sitting directly beneath the glass, and both are easy to damage if the panel is levered rather than lifted.

On the iPad Pro and the later Air, the glass and the LCD are laminated into one assembly, so a cracked front means replacing the display unit rather than the glass on its own. On older models with a separate digitiser, the cheaper glass-only repair is genuinely possible.
