Screens with curved edges, the large Ultra panels and those with a built-in S Pen digitiser are more expensive parts, and curved glass is harder to remove from the frame without damaging it. A cracked Galaxy screen is no longer water-resistant, whatever the IP rating says, so keep it away from water and the beach. Clear tape over the cracks keeps glass splinters in place. If the screen is unreadable but touch still works, you can usually back the phone up by connecting it to a computer with Smart Switch, or by turning on Samsung Cloud or Google backup before it gets worse.
